Currently working as Associate Director in partnership with Sarah-Vyne Vassallo to commission, develop and produce new work and co-manages support and reflection for the company’s independent artists with disability, Dan plays an integral role in the development and delivery of Murmuration’s artistic programs and community activities.
Dan completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts at the Flinders University Drama Centre in 2004 and joined Restless Dance Theatre in 2002. In early 2006, he danced with UK company, FRONTLINEdance in their 5th Anniversary Tour and in 2007 performed with Scottish Dance Theatre as guest dancer in Adam Benjamin’s ANGELS OF INCIDENCE for their Spring Tour. From 2007 to 2009, he worked with Kate Champion’s Force Majeure performing in THE AGE I’M IN at the 2008 Sydney and Adelaide Festivals.
In 2009, Dan co-produced CRUSH (Best Dance, Adelaide Fringe 2009) with balletLORENT and Dance City. He joined Candoco Dance Company in 2010, performing repertory pieces by Wendy Houstoun, Nigel Charnock, Sarah Michelson, Raphael Bonacella, Rachid Ouramdane, Trisha Brown, Marc Brew, Claire Cunningham and Javier de Frutos. Dan danced with Candoco for four years from 2010 until 2014 and worked as their Assistant Producer in 2013.
A Candoco Associate Artist and currently a student at the Sadlers Wells Summer University (2015 – 2018), Dan continues to work at the forefront of collaborative performance making in the UK. Dan is a recipient of the BBC/South East Dance Performing Arts Fund Fellowship, the Outlet Dance Award and the Russell Page Fellowship in Contemporary Dance amongst others. He has been a part of Dance UK’s Mentor Bursary and the National Theatre Step Change programme, furthermore evidencing his ambitions as disabled artist to impact and lead the conversation on dance and disability.
