Jungle Philips

Photograph of artist Jungle Philips standing next to two of his artworks, looking directly at the camera. Dressed in a black suit, intentionally covered with coloured splashes of paint, and wearing a painted fedora hat and dark sunglasses he is pointing at the painting to his right.

About the artist

Profession artist. Visual Arts.

Jungle Phillips’ prolific painting practice and his need to express his inner and outer experiences leads him to paint on a fascinating variety of surfaces from timber off-cuts, discarded doors and old kitchen trays, through to more traditional canvases and timber panels.

Jungle’s art and life are deeply intertwined and he loves to talk about and share his paintings and their stories with visitors. Despite experiencing great tragedies in his life, his work is a bright, optimistic, colourful and cheerful reflection of his inner spirit and charismatic personality. Complete with phonetic texts and bug-eyed characters, some from his imagination, some based on people in his life, Jungle’s work is full of energy and spirit.

Jungle has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally.
