Based on the Southern Eyre Peninsula of South Australia the festival is held annually and provides a platform for artists and contributors to showcase their ideas and to interact. It is an opportunity to make connections across topics and genres to build a new and innovative community.
SALT celebrates the impact of people converging through creative practice in arts, innovation, culture, conferences and discussion, providing platforms for innovators and professionals to contribute and connect.
This year, Access2Arts project 'The Exquisite Familiar' will be exhibited as part of the festival!
Working with seven disabled artists from around the stunning Eyre Peninsula, workshops will take place where these artists will create their very own 'exquisite familiars'. The artists will utilise the Exquisite Corpse-style art form to explore and illustrate the barriers associated with disability through the lens of familiars - uncanny creatures found throughout history in folklore who help and protect their owners.
Our regional Exquisite Familiar artists include:
Cyanne Westerman
Jekio Blackstreak
Karina Sires
Mya Canty
Anastasia Jelinek
Dani Johnson
Kye Poole
Winnie Mrdjen
These imaginative artworks will then be displayed to the public in a consistently changing and interactive format in a fun digital art exhibition at SALT Festival.
The festival runs from April 19 until April 28, 2024.
