Ryan has recently completed his arts degree at Flinders University and is now focusing on emerging into the arts world with greater depth.
His early love for the arts brought him to university with a passion for drawing, painting, playing guitar, and performing in theatre. With a string of accomplishments already to his name, Ryan has his sights set on achieving even more in the artistic space.
”I’m an alternative expressionist, which means creating art that sits outside of the mainstream. I like to express my emotions and feelings through my art, whether that’s through painting, music, or any other medium,” Ryan said.
Ryan’s interest in the stage led him to No Strings Attached, a theatre company that provides opportunities to performers living with disability. There, he has been involved in a multi-award-winning play and toured across the country.
”Performing in front of crowds around Australia was so much fun. I formed strong friendships, pursued my passion, and even met some famous people.”
Ryan also loves playing guitar and draws inspiration from his favourite heavy rock and metal bands, including Metallica, Slayer, Guns N’ Roses, and Slipknot. The prized possession of this talented 42-year-old is a genuine B.C. Rich Warlock guitar, a shared trait with his rock idols. ”I got mine when I was 19 and have played it ever since,” Ryan said.
Based in the Adelaide Hills, Ryan enjoys the area’s scenic beauty, especially the tranquillity of nearby Sturt Gorge Recreation Park.
”Going for walks helps clear my mind and gets my creative juices flowing.”
Ryan’s support team describe him as thoughtful, creative, and curious about the world around him. They work collaboratively to help him reach his goals and ensure he has every opportunity to keep building on his talents.
