About the artist

I’m Lea, a disabled artist, living & working on Kaurna Land. My pronouns are she/her.
I am a mobility aid user & a hearing aid user. I am mentally ill & physically disabled.
My art is unapologetic, sometimes profound, & sometimes silly for the sake of it.
I don’t like to set rigid boundaries when expressing myself through art.

I describe myself as a “cripple punk”. Hence my artist page name of “hell crip art”.
The “cripple punk” movement is made explicitly by & for people with disabilities.
It challenges the idea that people with disabilities need to appear morally good to deserve the conditional support of able-bodied people, & instead advocates for the solidarity of disabled people, who appear not to conform to normative standards & rejects inspirational portrayals of our lives, on the sole basis of our disabilities.

I recommend researching the movement, if you’re not familiar with it.
