Event description

Join us for a one-of-a-kind dinner experience inside the gallery space at Adelaide Contemporary Experimental.

Seated inside the sensorily-encompassing solo exhibition by Kaspar Schmidt Mumm, ROCKAMORA, Diner Club brings together contemporary artists with the very best chefs, restaurants, wineries and breweries of South Australia to host a once-off dinner service curated specifically to the themes and ideas behind the exhibition.

About ROCKAMORA

ROCKAMORA is the first major gallery exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Kaspar Schmidt Mumm, expanding the artist’s fascination with puppetry as a tool for social change. Named after his mother’s primary school bully, ‘Rockamora’ is a thug taking a bath in the gallery. By feeding, cleaning and caring for this bully, ROCKAMORA encourages us to empathise with a larger-than-life, misunderstood antagonist as a way to counter lived experiences of harassment and discrimination.

The large-scale interactive installation is a result of the artist being awarded the 2023 Porter Street Commission – ACE’s annual award supporting new artwork by South Australian artists. The lucrative $20,000 award gives artists like Schmidt Mumm the opportunity to create ambitious new work.

About Kaspar Schmidt Mumm

Born in Germany and raised in Adelaide with Colombian, Pakistani and Canadian heritage, Kaspar Schmidt Mumm’s motivation to make art stems from his experience of displacement and desire to develop an artistic language that crosses cultural borders. In addition to his individual practice, Schmidt Mumm is one of the founders of  performance art collective The Bait Fridge and lead vocalist of Slowmango.

On the menu

Inspired by ROCKAMORA and Kaspar Schmidt Mumm's approach to art practice, each dish and drink is imbibed with an environmentally consciousness and community-minded ethos.

Passionate about native Australian ingredients, Jessie Spiby celebrates the diverse array of colours and beauty found in nature in her cooking. She is determined to create a new ‘Australian’ cuisine by melding traditional Asian and European flavours and techniques with our beautiful native ingredients.

At My Grandma Ben, Spiby's veggie-focused menu celebrates the seasons, champions local producers and growers, and is jam packed with house-made pickles, preserves and ferments. Steeped in the belief that the 'sustainable way' doesn't have to mean missing out, the eatery aims to minimise food and plastic waste as much as possible, and help make the ethical choice the easy choice.

The drinks menu features the great wines and beers of ACE sponsors, Charlotte Dalton Wines and Bowden Brewing.
