SALA Exhibition: Creating Rainbows by Bedford

Created by artists with disability, the Bedford 2024 SALA theme is Creating Rainbows, an exhibition celebrating the diversity and the unique stories of contributing artists from Bedford's Day Options.

This year they are joined by a team of artists from Bedford-backed Blend Creative, who will be presenting their SALA exhibition at The Joinery entitled In Your Wildest Dreams.

In its simplest description, a rainbow is 'a multicoloured arc that forms in the sky.'

The rainbow motif offers Bedford Day Options artists so much scope to explore creatively, both practically and metaphorically, with the use of colour, blending, elevation, shape and form. The rainbow evokes ideas of magic, reward, renewal - and perhaps a sense of yearning... rainbows are always just out of reach.

Imagined by artists with disability, Creating Rainbows celebrates the diversity and the unique stories of contributors from Bedford's Day Options. Creating Rainbows offers the opportunity to creatively express thoughts, feelings, goals or hopes through a variety of artistic media. It may be painting, drawing, sculpting, or using elements from the natural environment. Each piece is made with pride and the unique interpretation of the artist.

There will be multiple exhibition sites across South Australia, and you will also be able to view and purchase artworks from Creating Rainbows online!

The exhibitions will take place in the following locations and across the following dates and times:

Where: Adelaide Central Plaza, Level 1, Adelaide Central Plaza, Rundle Mall
When: August 1 to 31, Monday - Friday, 10 am - 3 pm daily

When: Bedford Panorama Foyer, 615 Goodwood Road, Panorama
When: August 1 to 31, Monday - Friday, 8:30am until 4.30pm daily

Where: Mount Gambier Library, 6 Watson Terrace, Mount Gambier
Where: August 5 to 12, visit library website for opening hours

Where: The Joinery (Blend Creative) at 111 Franklin Street, Adelaide
When: August 8 until September 1, Monday to Friday, 9am til 5pm daily

Special Event!

Bedford are also holding a special event to celebrate the 2024 SALA Exhibition and the contributing artists at an evening of artwork and entertainment.
