What is the course?

The Access2Arts audio description training is a course which will provide you with the skills to audio describe standard theatre, visual arts and digital recordings.

Access2Arts will offer additional units to extend your knowledge to specialise in chosen areas.

Who is in the class?

Participants, like you, come from all around Australia from diverse backgrounds. Some knowledge of the arts is preferred, but not essential. You will likely be required to work as a pair with someone you have not previously met and asked to contribute to digital classroom discussions.

Is it Accredited?

No. Currently in Australia there is no formally accredited training offered in Audio Description. This course is run by Access2Arts, who have a national reputation for training and providing professional audio description services. You will receive a certificate of participation upon completion of all modules, assignments, tutorials and your final assessment.

How much time commitment should I spend during training?

You will receive weekly assignments, and while you can spend as much time as you please, we anticipate a minimum time commitment of 3 – 4 hours, outside of the 5 x tutorials held once a week over a 6 week period with a 1:1 final assessment scheduled after week 6. Assessment preparation is around 4-6 hours.
