Joanne has been involved with Access2Arts since 2010. Since 2012, she has been volunteering with Adelaide Festival of Arts Writers Week as an access adviser, cataloging and researching the availability of alternative formats of books that are available by Writers Week authors. Joanne was involved in Shots in the Dark, a photography project for blind artists. Her work has been exhibited at rarely seen, and the Outsider Festival. She is also currently involved with DIALOG, an international leadership network initiative by Arts Access Australia. With the advancement of technology, she wants to explore the possibility of multimedia tag tile art using different media form such as 3d printing and touch screen tablets
Joanne spent most of 2015 in India, as a social change maker at the Kanthari International Institute of Social Entrepreneurs. She is currently starting up her new venture Turn Upstream International, empowering youth with disability in life skills and people skills.
As an audience member with profound low vision Joanne is a strong advocate for audio description and is passionate about bringing arts and access together. She is also interested in development for international artists with disability, and using arts for social change.
