YUCK Circus, Auslan Interpreted: Yuck Circus

Where: Ukiyo at Gluttony, Rymill Park / Mullawirraburka, Corner of East Terrace and Rundle Rd, Adelaide

When:

Thursday, 27 February 2020, 7:20pm

Sugar, spice, and apparently “nice”?

With their bloody good sense of humour, YUCK Circus are going to rip into the uncomfortable using high-flying acrobatics, absurd confessions and groovy dancing. WINNERS of Best Emerging Artist at Adelaide Fringe 2019 and the FRINGEWORLD top-tier Martin Sims Award so get ready to witness a powerhouse of female circus performers kick art in the face.

About YUCK Circus (in their own words)
“We’re a 7-strong crew of elite acrobatic gals, ready flip off double-standards and kick art in the face. We’re not lightly throwing around women’s issues – we’re literally throwing women!

Let’s get into the grit of it: we’re coming for your bloody ‘female standards’ and rough Aussie norms. Our award-winning Western Australian company of circus chicks are tackling the uncomfortable through dance, circus, and beaut comedic timing. It’s bingeing on a jar of Nutella, it’s the thwack of the tampon, and it’s all contemporary Australian poetry. YUCK is fun for the faint-hearted, the strong-willed, and the everyday battler.”

“YUCK aren’t trying to gross you out. To quote early 2000s Madonna, they’re just showing you what it feels like in this world for a girl.” – Kira Rikkers, We Love Perth

★★★★★ “Flight of the Conchords meets Cirque du Soleil” – The Stage

★★★★ “YUCK were able to create the perfect balance of discussing serious topics, flying through the air and being disgustingly hilarious” – FRINGE Feed

★★★★ – The Advertiser
