3 December 2022, 12pm–1pm

$89, $69

2022 ACE Studio Program Artist Shaye Dương will teach participants how to use casting techniques to create a candle.

Bring along objects you’re interested in casting and Shaye will teach you how to make basic one-part and two-part moulds using alginate and plaster. From this mould, you’ll be able to cast the object in wax, creating a candle reproduction of the object.

Shaye is drawn to the alchemical process of casting and the inherent slippages that come from making copies of an object. In her practice, she explores ideas of mistranslation and replication. Casting allows Shaye to render objects in unexpected materials to subvert their conventional function and meaning.

Afternoon tea will be provided.

Full price: $89.00
Concession/ACE Associate: $69.00
