The Heart Beat Club

A group of five people stand in front of a green sequined material. The people are all smiling or making silly faces as they look at the camera.

Where: Jackson Square, 57 Manton Street, Hindmarsh SA 5007

When:

Friday, 14 January 2022, 7:30pm - 11:00pm

Join us for a night of dance, DJs, drinks and food, all within Adelaide’s newest warehouse venue, Jackson Square, which will be filled with mesmerising projections, as well as relaxed spaces and gaming stations.

Tickets are available here.

The Heart Beat Club (recently a Ruby Award-winning event) is Australia’s first disability-friendly club night. It’s run by and for people with learning disabilities, as well as anyone else who wants to come along for a great time!

A person looks at a computer screen in front of them with their hand hovering above a set of DJ deck. Two people in dark clothing who are smiling look at each other to the right, while people in the back are in poses as they dance.

After a set of creative workshops throughout the last couple of months, the Beats Crew DJs will be performing their latest tracks on the night, as well as dance moves, Beats Crew t-shirt designs and light projection creations.

The Beats Crew members are people living with disability who wanted choice and control in running a night that they could enjoy and feel safe at.

“We want to have a more active and ‘age appropriate’ social life including club nights. We are running our own proper club night so we can have fun and stay up late. Spend fun time with friends. Do it our way. Show our talents. Beat box on stage. DJ on stage. Dance. Dress up. Feel safe. Make our Club awesome.”

– The Beats Crew

They were given the opportunity to run the ‘Heartbeat Club’ their own way, and unlike many other social activities for LD-people, the Beats Crew wanted their club to be run by and for people with learning disability.

“Every club night I go to I find my strength and power in music.”

– Lorcan (DJ Power), Beats Crew Member

Invite both friends and family to The Heart Beat Club night via the Facebook event and let’s have a great time.

See you there!
