Lyra

Aurora Vocal Ensemble celebrates our Southern Skies and the land below in 'Lyra' — a shimmering program of music inspired by flight, light, and belonging. Named for the constellation that sings across the heavens, Lyra invites listeners to look upward and outward, to find beauty in the vastness above and wonder beneath our feet.

Through luminous works for upper voices, the resonance of wine glasses, the pulse of stomping feet, and a cacophony of birdsong, Aurora traces the paths of wings and winds. From intimate whispers to soaring harmonies, this concert celebrates connection — between earth and air, people and place.

With music by Alice Chance, Sarah Quartel, Ēriks Ešenvalds, and Ola Gjeilo, join us in honouring song, nature, and our glorious southern world.

We welcome you to bring what is needed for you to feel comfortable, including pillows for your seat, water, and noise-dampening headphones. Audience interaction is not compulsory, no sensorially stimulating lighting, exit and re-enter between songs.
