Australia Council for the Arts’ Creative Connections is an online webinar series for the cultural and arts sectors and will offer practical, accessible and useful content delivered by industry experts on key topics and emerging themes.

Access2Arts’ Martin Sawtell and Jody Holdback will be running a session on Digital Equality: Finding inclusion in online spaces.

About the session:

Is providing Auslan, captioning and audio describing online really enough? Does the COVID-19 inspired pivot towards online platforms enable presenters to remain connected to audiences and find new ones, or does it reinforce the digital divide reinforcing barriers experiencing by Deaf and disabled artists, arts workers and audiences?

Access2Arts’ Martin Sawtell and Jody Holdback  will investigate the liberation and new challenges experienced by Deaf and disabled patrons as the shift to arts online takes place, during and post COVID-19. Gain some insights into best practice for your web content, some tips and ‘easy wins’ for making your online gatherings more accessible.

Creative Connections is an online webinar series for the cultural and arts sectors and will offer practical, accessible and useful content delivered by industry experts on key topics and emerging themes.

The series is focused around the theme of adaptation, and sessions will explore digital adaptation, leadership adaptation and arts practice adaptation. Sessions will be facilitated by experts in specific topic areas, with over thirty sessions available.

Creative Connections will be delivered live via our online platform and recordings will be published after each session. All sessions are Auslan Interpreted, live captioned and audio described.
