Nominations are now open for the inaugural National Arts and Disability Awards, and will close on Tuesday 1 October 2019.
These new awards mark the beginning of a three-year initiative. They are designed to celebrate and recognise the achievements of emerging and established artists with disability. The awards are open to all areas of practice.
The National Arts and Disability Award (Established Artist) celebrates the achievements of an Australian artist whose outstanding and sustained contribution to their chosen field/s of arts practice has been recognised nationally and/or internationally.
The recipient of this award will receive $50,000.
The National Arts and Disability Award (Emerging Artist) recognises a young Australian artist (35 years of age or under at the time of nomination) demonstrating exceptional leadership who has made an outstanding contribution to their chosen field/s of practice.
The recipient of this award will receive $20,000.
Nominees cannot self-nominate.

The Australia Council and Arts Access Australia will be partnering to present the new awards during Meeting Place 2019 in Canberra on International Day of People with Disability, Tuesday 3 December.
