We are excited to announce that we are looking for disabled artists for our upcoming collaborative art project, ‘The Exquisite Familiar’.
We are looking for ten disabled visual artists (emerging or established) to participate in a paid collaborative project that will involve workshops and exhibitions at both the Art Gallery of South Australia and MOD Museum, including an exhibition at AGSA in December as a part of the international day of people with Disabilities.
In this interactive, immersive, multi-art form installation, ten disabled artists (over the age of 18) will bring their vision to life and develop their digital capabilities with the support of artistic and technical staff. These artists will use exquisite corpse-style art to explore and illustrate the barriers associated with disability through the lens of familiars.
The project will be in the format of workshops; you’ll learn interactive drawing, digital animation, and audio soundscape skills, and the project will reflect the artistic journey of all artists involved.
This project includes one visual arts workshop held at AGSA, and two more digital and technology-based workshops held at MOD Museum, as well as an exhibition opening at both of these locations to celebrate the works created. The AGSA exhibition will be excitingly launched on 2 December 2022, which is the ‘International Day of Persons with Disability’.
We will also be holding a Meet & Greet event for all the artists, support workers for the project, and Access2Arts staff on at 11am Saturday 22 October 1022 (you will receive more information, such as the location, once you have submitted your EOI).
The first creative workshop will be held at The Studio in AGSA on Tuesday 8 November from 10am til 12pm.
The time commitment of this project is approximately 20 hours.
We cannot wait to see your entries!
