Call for Disabled Artists: The Senses Project

About the opportunity

Expressions of Interest are open for disabled artists from any art form who would like to take part in The Senses Project (Working Title). This is an Fringe Production that is planned to take place in either 2020 or 2021

The project will feature a series of installations that focus on one of the five senses (Sight, Smell, Hearing, Touch & Taste)The goal of each installation is to celebrate a particular sense or to represent what it is like to have a particular sense to be impaired or taken away completely. In addition to the traditional five senses, there will be a six-sense (Mobility) Included.

More than one Artist may feature the same sense.

The Idea of The Senses Project was created by Robert Elliott. Robert’s idea for this project was partly inspired by a visit to the ‘Walk-a-Kilometre-in-my-Shoes’ entertainment experience at the Darwin Museum. As a part of this experience, Robert stood on a dark room and listened to a recording of what it sounded like to be in a shelter and have cyclone Tracy destroying everything outside. In a similar vein, Robert views the Senses Project as an ‘ideal means of giving the non-disabled community a taste (no pun intended) of what it’s like for us’.

To participate in this project, please submit your Expression of Interest  emailing notredford@hotmail.com before Friday, 17 May 2019.
