Adelaide has been named the world’s second National Park City and voted the third most livable city in the world. One reason for these accolades is that is the only capital city built within a park.
To raise awareness of the irreplaceable Park Lands that garland Adelaide city the Adelaide Park Lands Association (APA) holds a biennial art prize. It is open to national and international artists of all ages working in any visual art medium. Artists are invited to create a work that makes a statement about or captures the essence of Adelaide’s Park Lands.
The prize pool is $50,000, with the main prize of $20,000 and 15 categories for the secondary prizes.
An exhibition of finalists will be held at the premium art space of the Adelaide Festival Centre gallery for six weeks from 24th March 2023.
Funds raised through sales will support Adelaide Parks Land Association to help protect, restore, explore and inspire the community to appreciate nature in the city.
The prize pool will be distributed through the 16 Art Prize Categories:
